The City of Orinda’s Facade Improvement Program empowers eligible businesses to improve their properties with grants of up to $30,000 for permanent exterior enhancements. Each project contributes to a more vibrant, walkable Downtown Orinda. By participating in this one-year pilot program, businesses will also directly influence future economic development efforts and opportunities.

From updated storefronts and signage to lighting, landscaping and accessibility upgrades, the program makes it easier to create a more welcoming, competitive business.

How funding works:

• Projects up to $10,000: Eligible for funding with no matching contribution required.
• Projects over $10,000: The City will fund the first $10,000 in eligible costs, plus 50% of additional eligible costs, up to a maximum City grant of $30,000.

Funding for this program is currently limited to $75,000 — so submit an interest form now to get started!

Unlike traditional approvals, qualifying projects do not require separate design review or individual permits for eligible signs, outdoor dining improvements or tree removal — saving you time and paperwork.
